Common Art.

I had to write a blog post for my Core class today, and I wrote about my experience in Boston. Since I haven't had time to really write about my thoughts from SBC yet, I figured I'd post what I wrote for class on here, too. I don't know if it's very good...I wrote it kind of fast haha. I'm going to be honest and say I don't usually put a lot of time into my assignments for Core...

Prompt: What should our response(s) be to those regarded as “Other”?

I went on Spring Break Campaign to Boston last week, and I encountered “the Other” when we worked at a homeless ministry. The ministry was called “Common Art.” One day a week, this church offers a place for people to come paint, draw, make mosaics, play the piano, listen to music, or just rest in a warm building. They also serve a meal and eat together. The volunteers described their work with the homeless as a "ministry of presence." Their focus is to spend time with the people…
